Yo soy el pequeño niño irlandés (sirio, mejicano, español …)
que vive en la cabaña,
tengo cuatro años hoy
y pronto tendré veintiuno
Creceré y seré un gran hombre
y apalearé todo el día,
tan duro como pueda.
Abajo, en el profundo corte
donde vivieron los hombres que hicieron el ferrocarril,
para cenar tengo alguna patata
y a veces algo de pan,
después si hace frío
me voy a la cama.
Me tumbo sobre algo de paja,
bajo el abrigo de mi padre
Mi madre no me grita
y mi padre no me recrimina
porque soy un pequeño niño irlandés
y tengo cuatro años.
Cada día voy a la escuela
recorriendo la vía de tren,
el día que nevó
fue tan frío que lloré
Pero si me duelen los pies
no me importa el frío
